Working with DIVs and Layers in Freeway Pro (CSS Layout)

A DIV is an HTML tag which defines a division or section in a document. In Freeway, DIVs are referred to as layers, and are only available in Freeway Pro.

Freeway generates DIVs automatically when you have CSS layers switched on and you draw an HTML item. By default, these items are shown with a green border (non-CSS or table-based layout items are shown with a blue border; graphic items are shown with a grey border).

By default Freeway layers use “absolute positioning”, in other words layers will be positioned at a specific position relative to the page (or parent item) and not relative to other items on the page. Using the pop-up menu next to the Layer checkbox in the Inspector’s General Settings tab, you can change this behaviour to “Fixed in window”. This option will force the item to always keep a fixed position relative to the browser window regardless of the page being scrolled. This would be useful for set of navigation links, for example, where it would stay in the same place in the browser as the user scrolls through a page. Please note that support for fixed layers is not guaranteed to work in all browsers (in particular Windows Internet Explorer 6).
