QuickTime reference movies are QuickTime files that contain pointers to
different version of the same movie. When QuickTime plays the movie it
will decide which version to play based on the device that is being
used. A higher quality version will play on regular desktop computers
and a choice between two lower quality versions will be made on iPhones
depending on the network speed.
Making QuickTime reference movies is really easy in Freeway 5.2.1 and above.
Draw an HTML item
Drag a Quicktime movie into the item or select it from the File>Import dialog
Apply the QT Reference Movie Action to the item
Click both the Generate buttons in the Action palette to make the smaller versions of the movie (for the iPhone/iPod)
A button will be displayed on the movie, the default text for this button will be Click to Play. Type your own message in the Message field or leave it blank to have no button
This Action will use a poster frame for the movie so it won't play automatically (this is to replicate the way that
the movie will appear on the iPhone/iPod). By default the first frame
of your movie will be used, if you want to use something else select it
from the Poster Frame pulldown
Preview the movie in the browser or Freeway to see it working. The iPhone simulator doesn't play movies unless they are on the Internet so you will need to upload the site to test on that
