Using CSS3 and HTML5 in Freeway
We are often asked about HTML5 and CSS3 functionality and how it can be used in Freeway. However, you need to be aware that both are currently in development and are not yet considered to be official standards.
At the moment (though the situation is very fluid) HTML5 and CSS3 functionality is only partly supported on certain modern browsers and older browsers do not support it at all. For instance, all CSS3 attributes work with Safari 3 (or later) and Firefox 2 (or later) with the exception of CSS3 shadows which will not work on browsers earlier than Safari 3 or Firefox 3.1.
Internet Explorer - including IE8 - offers no support for CSS3 as it doesn't follow specifications from the W3C.
If you want to download Freeway Actions to use CSS3 attributes, go to the page on ActionsForge here.
HTML5 is now causing a stir because it offers a dedicated video tag which lets supported browsers (including the iPhone and iPad) play MP4 h.264 video files without the usual issues associated with QuickTime and Flash.
You can download the HTML5 Video Action from here, but make sure you read the documentation on that page carefully as the process is more complicated than using QuickTime or FLV files through the FLV Player Action.
