Entering the FTP details into the Upload Dialog and Uploading

Before you can upload your site you will need some web space. There are a huge number of web hosting providers that you can choose from but, to make things easy for you, we have found a host that works perfectly with Freeway.

FatCow hosting is cheap and feature rich. Our tests showed that they were quick, very easy to upload to with no special directory needed (see below), and hassle free contact form setup using the PHP Feedback Form Action.

When you are ready to upload your web site to your server, you'll need to enter the FTP connection details in the Freeway Upload dialog. Your web-host should have provided you with all the relevant information needed to upload, if you no longer have that information you will need to get in contact with them, Softpress cannot provide you with that information.

What to enter:

Server - this is the address of the FTP server where you will upload your site to. An example of this looks like ftp.domainname.com, or in an IP format, 123.456.789.0

Directory - You may need to upload your pages into a specific directory (otherwise known as a folder) on your web server. Your web-host can advise.

Username - The username given by the web-host

Password - The password given by the web-host

Should the Username or Password field be left blank prior to upload you will be prompted to enter them in the next dialog. Doing this will prevent Freeway from storing your username and password internally

Passive FTP (PASV) - Some web-hosts require that this option is checked. Leave it unchecked if you are unsure, if your upload fails the check it and attempt the upload again

Save FTP Log - This option will create a record of the upload. You don't need this checked to have a successful upload, but should you have problems, check this option and upload. Should you need to contact Softpress Support or your web-host regarding an upload problem then the log can help identify problems. The location of the log file will be:

Home/Library/Logs/Freeway 5 Express or Pro/FTP Logs/
