Freeway 5.0 Release Notes
Detach Missing Graphics
If
you have missing graphics, Freeway 5 can detach them so that you can
publish your document without waiting for Freeway to locate the
missing graphics.
Encoded Email Addresses
Freeway
5 automatically encodes email addresses, in HTML text and in links, to
make them less accessible to spam harvesters. Encoded addresses can
still be read by humans and web browsers, of course, and are a limited
defense against more sophisticated spam harvesters.
Graphic Resolution
Freeway
5 contains an option to ignore graphic resolution when importing an
image. Images are displayed in Freeway at their native (pixel)
dimensions. This allows high resolution images to appear larger when
first imported into your design.
Guides
Freeway
5 provides a new Create Guides dialog. This allows you to set guides
for a page, and automatically calculates the correct widths and heights
for layouts with a fixed number of columns or rows, with or without a
gutter.
Margins and Grids
Freeway 5 provides a new and simplified dialog for setting Margins and Grids.
Save Archive
Save
Archive allows you to save a snapshot of your document along with
copies of associated graphics and other resources. Saving an archive is
useful if you want to take periodic backups while working on a site, or
if you wish to copy a document, with all its resources, to a different
volume.
Accessibility
Accessibility Report
This gives helpful information about the accessibility of your web pages.
Preview Options
Freeway 5 provides some options on the Preview toolbar that can help you to assess how accessible a page is.
View Options
The
View menu contains two new accessibility options. View Alt Text allows
you to view alt text (and hides images), while View Tab Order shows the
tabbing order of form items.
Language
The Page Export pane of the Inspector palette contains an option to set the language of a page.
Forms
Alt
text can now be set on form items. A Fieldset Action allows related
form fields to be grouped. A Form Label Action can be used to specify
that an item acts as a label for a form item.
Tables
The
Table Cell pane of the Inspector palette can be used to define table
headers (helpful for screen readers). The Table Output pane of the
Inspector palette contains a Summary field.
Access keys
Access keys can be set in the Edit Hyperlink dialog and in the Form Item Export panes of the Inspector palette.
Background Effects
Freeway
5 can apply background effects to HTML items. This allows you to set
graphic effects on HTML items that are similar to those that can be
applied to graphic items.
Background Images
Freeway 5 allows background images to be applied to items as well as pages.
CSS Menus
Freeway
5 provides a new method for creating navigation menus. The new menus
are CSS driven (making them fast) and they are built upon HTML lists.
CSS Selectors
Freeway 5 Pro has improved support for interpreting CSS selectors in tag styles.
Graphic Effects
Freeway
5 adds two new graphic effects (Inner Shadow and Inner Glow), and has
an improved interface for applying effects to graphic items.
HTML Lists
Freeway 5 has improved support for HTML lists. Most importantly, it is now possible to create nested lists—lists within lists.
Internet Explorer Compatibility
Microsoft
Internet Explorer is the most commonly used browser on Windows
computers, but it has a number of limitations in its support for web
standards. Freeway 5 provides three levels of Internet Explorer
compatibility.
iPhoto Import
Freeway 5 can import images directly from your iPhoto library.
Link Styles
Freeway
5 has an improved user interface for setting link styles, and Freeway 5
Pro allows you to set link styles on CSS items as well as pages.
Scriptaculous Actions
Freeway
5 Pro includes Actions which use the Scriptaculous JavaScript library
(http://script.aculo.us) to create JavaScript effects.
Sliced Background Images
Freeway
5 has an option for slicing background images so that they can be used
to apply a border or effect to an HTML item. This allows you to create
HTML boxes with decorative borders, or shadows, or translucent
backgrounds etc.
Blogger Templates
Blogger
is a free blog hosting service provided by Google. It is well known and
respected—but designing a template with your own content can be tricky
and time consuming. With Freeway 5 you can easily design and create
your own Blogger templates.
Color Labeling
In Freeway 5, you can label items, pages, and folders using colors, much as you can do with files and folders in the Finder.
CSS Layout
Freeway
5 Pro has improved support for CSS layout. This allows you to create
pages which are laid out using CSS positioning instead of tables.
Hierarchical Layout
Freeway 5 has improved support for hierarchical layout. Items can now be dragged and copy/pasted from one parent to another.
Live Action Previews
The
user experience of Freeway Actions in Freeway 5 has been improved
through live Action previews. Actions which have live previews are
displayed in a WYSIWYG fashion within Freeway's document view.
Pasting
Freeway
5 has a new Paste and Match Style command on the Edit menu. This is
useful if you wish your pasted text to take its style from the text
into which it is being pasted.
