These templates are intended to be a starting point for people wanting to use CSS Layouts in Freeway Pro. They are simple CSS Layouts, each of them centered on the page with a basic three row structure (header, content and footer). Some will have extra columns within the content area and as time goes on we hope to have more available with more complex structures.
CSS Layouts are similar to tables; they are just structures with the sole purpose of keeping content in the same place relative to everything else, regardless of how the page changes. They have been created by making what we call "in-flow" items. These are made by double-clicking inside an HTML item and using the HTML Item option from the Insert Menu. These (items) are made relative to the items before them and will flow down the page. You can change their positions by setting their Float settings to Left or Right.
The 3 Row template was set up by creating an HTML layer item the size of the page. it contains three in-flow items, each with their Float options set to Left and Clear to Both. They were made as wide as the parent item and can be as high as you want them to be. The parent item's height was removed by clicking the Height icon in the Inspector palette. Doing this makes the height of it always the same as the contents. The same should be done with the Content item (the center item) too when you have added your own content.
To have a true CSS Layout, it is important to continue adding items in the same way - double clicking in the item you want to insert the content into and using the Insert>HTML Item option.
Note that Graphic items will not be CSS Layout items. If you need a graphic in the structure, first draw an HTML item container for it and either adding your graphic to the item in the same way or using the Background option of the HTML item.
By adding all your items using these methods you will have a true CSS Layout in which your content in the center of the page will push the footer down when the text increases in size. The code that is created will also be a lot cleaner because there will be no tables present.
Note that Freeway considers the CSS Layout items inside the main item the same as any other content such as text or graphics. If you select the main item on any of your regular pages and choose Use Master Settings and Use Master Content then everything inside the main item (including the content of all the in-flow items) will revert to the Master.
